We were at the prison several years ago and there was on old west town with a shoot out and saloon with dancing girls and stage coach rides for a fee. Is these things still there. I was wanting to bring my grandkids out to see it if it is?
Thank you
Shannon
The old west town, shoot-outs and saloon you encountered when you visited before are no longer being offered. We have changed the activities to focus on the Prison story which include activities such as broom making, prison guard and convict living history. We hope you will be able to visit us again soon. Thank you for your interest in Wyoming Territorial Prison!
We visited the prison just a few days before it closed for the season last fall so the souvenir supply was very depleted. I am wondering if you carried then or carry now embroidered souvenir patches for the prison. I just got back from our trip west for this year and found a real nice souvenir patch at Fort Phil Kearny so I’m hopeful I could get something like that from the prison, too. Do you carry anything like that?
Hello Jennie,
We have several styles of embroidered patches in our gift shop for Wyoming in general, but we do not have anything that is specific for the site.
Can you tell me if you carry the big plasma cut metal windchimes with the bucking bronc? I live here in Laramie, my son and his family were visiting this summer and we saw one somewhere–I just can’t remember where? We were out there–I’m trying to remember where we took the kids when they were here. My son really thought they were fun–and I wouldn’t like to get one for him for Christmas (if I can remember where we saw them!)
Sue,
We do not sell those in our gift shop, but there are some stores in town that do sell those.
Can you tell me who? I’ve been to a couple of them, and haven’t seen them! Thanks so much for your help!
Have you checked in the Curiosity Shop (Hallmark Store) in Laramie?
Sue,
We do not sell those in our gift shop, but there are some stores in town that do sell them.
Hi!
My friend purchased a purse at your shop and I LOVE it! Is there any way to purchase items from your shop online?
Thank you!
Bridget-
Right now, there isn’t a way to order from our gift shop online. However, if you would like to purchase something and have it sent to you, you may either call us at 307-745-3733 or e-mail your request to lynette.nelson@wyo.gov. Thank you for your interest in the Wyoming Territorial Prison.
Hi, we used to live in Wyoming (in Laramie) I always enjoyed taking the kids up to the Prison and we enjoyed the wine tasting there one year. I also brought lots of visitors. I am sad not to see more pictures (or maybe I can’t find them) I also would love some history on the niece of Annie Oakley. I just watched the PBS special and I think that would be a cool thing to add to the museum. I also am aware that there was an auction of Annie Oakley memorabilia from some relatives in Los Angeles. Thanks! Ann
Hi Ann! Annie Oakley certainly IS an interesting historical character! We have so many characters that were incarcerated in the Prison, that we keep most of our interpretation of historic personalities to those that directly pertain to the site’s history. Glad to hear you have good memories of the Prison – thanks for sharing!
