I have a question about the Dark Cells Prison Tour; I know it’s not on this page but I didn’t know where else to post a comment… I am disabled and I use a walker to walk around when I’m by myself. I was wondering if there is adequate room for me to bring the walker to this tour or if I should just have my mother, who is also attending, help me get through the tour? I have never been to a Dark Cells Tour so I do not know the general layout.
Shawna,
Hello! Thank you for your question. Our prison is ADA accessible and there will be enough room for your walker. Looking forward to seeing you at the tour.
We visited years ago and really enjoyed demonstrations of old skills such as blacksmithing, tatting, weaving, etc ? Do they still have them?
Hello Nan
The living history demonstrations you encountered when you visited before are no longer being offered. We have changed the activities to focus on the Prison story which include activities such as broom making, prison guard and convict living history. We hope you will be able to visit us again soon. Thank you for your interest in Wyoming Territorial Prison!
I’m very disappointed that you no longer offer the living history demonstrations and hope you’ll consider reinstating them. Friends will be visiting, and I had thought of suggesting the prison as a point of interest to them. I won’t now. We’ll concentrate on Laramie and some places outside of town–Veedauwoo, Centennial and the Snowy Range, and Woods Landing.
Hello Virginia,
The living history demonstrations you encountered when you visited before are no longer being offered. We have changed the activities to focus on the Prison story which include activities such as broom making, prison guard and convict living history. We hope you will be able to visit us again soon. We also have two new exhibits on Butch Cassidy and Dr. May Preston Slosson, our first female chaplain. Thank you for your interest in Wyoming Territorial Prison!
When will the Butch Cassidy Days celebration take place this year in 2015. We happened to be there a few years ago on a motorcycle ride and it was a fun celebration. Might like to return this year from the Denver Metro area.
Does the gift shop close down for the winter also?? Or will it be opene during the Christmas Lights event? Recently toured the site and had an awesome time!
Hello Barbara!
Glad you had a wonderful time on our site! The gift shop will remain open through our Jingle Cells event on December 13th. It will be open from 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday.

We missed your Dark Cell Prison Tour. on 15 Aug. My question is, will you have another Dark Cell Prison Tour coming up in Aug or Sept?
Hello Mark,
We hold Dark Cell tours once a month during our season, typically on the third Friday of the month. We have our next tours on September 19th and October 10th. However, these tours are already sold out. You are more than welcome to call us and get your name on a waiting list in case someone cancels.
How do we find out if an outside group is planning a dinner theater/play? We are thinkingof coming down in June with a group of high school students
Hello Mark,
The site no longer produces dinner theater productions and we have no outside groups scheduled to use the space for any time during the 2014 season. The site itself has several special events coming up for this season. Please check back for updates on the latest events at the Wyoming Territorial Prison.
Is the Horse Barn Theater still operational? We haven’t been there for several years, but we have such fond memories of the performances.
Sharon –
I am pleased you have such fond memories of the performances, however we no longer have regular shows at the Horse Barn Theatre. The space is open for group rentals and also available to rent if any local theatre groups wish to use it to put on their own performances.
