Educators

Want a hands-on experience for your students? Interested in Wyoming and/or local history? Come visit the Wyoming Territorial Prison State Historic Site! School tours are FREE but must be booked in advance. Tours last about two hours with the option of a “primary resource” research activity following. Please call us at: 307-745-3733. We look forward to seeing your students!
Can’t come to us? Let us come to you! Our new outreach program features a classroom visit from Dr. May Preston Slosson, the first female prison chaplain in United States Prison System history! This curriculum-supported program will engage your students as they hear Dr. Slosson speak about her work in and out of the Prison to reform the convicts back in the 1890s. The outreach program comes with a curriculum-based activity for the students to complete after the presentation. This activity supports State Curriculum Standards for Social Studies, Math and Language Arts, as well as Wyoming Common Core standards for Speaking/Listening.
